Fourth and fifth grade students are particpating in the My America Project for the Celebration of America's 250th Birthday. These will go to Washington DC where a giant flag is being assembled for America's Birthday.
The My America project is a nationwide, youth-driven art and civic engagement campaign organized by The Rendon Group and Empower Peace for America's 250th anniversary.
Key Details of the Project
Purpose: K–12 students across all 50 states and U.S. territories design individual 6-inch red, white, or blue fabric tiles with drawings, poems, or messages reflecting on unity, democracy, and being American.
The Flag Mosaic: The completed tiles are collected and assembled into a massive American flag mosaic (expected to exceed 50,000 tiles and measure roughly 150 feet long by 80 feet wide).
